The Old Wooden Mosque in Bužim is one of the most significant religious buildings in the Una-Sana Canton. What makes it special is the construction method - the entire structure is made of wood, without the use of a single metal nail. The joints were crafted using the traditional technique of interlocking wooden beams, passed down through generations of master builders.

The mosque was built in the 19th century and represents a prime example of Bosnian-Herzegovinian wooden sacred architecture. Its beauty lies in its simplicity - clean lines, large wooden columns and a characteristic roof that dominates the landscape.

The interior of the mosque is equally impressive. Wooden panels, hand-carved details and harmonious acoustics make it a place of peace and spirituality. The mahfil (women’s gallery) and mihrab (niche indicating the direction of prayer) were crafted with special care, testifying to the skill of the builders.

Visitors are allowed to enter the mosque (while respecting dress code and conduct rules), and guided tours can be arranged through the contact form. This is one of those places not to be missed when visiting Bužim.
