The Old Town Bužim, situated on a hill above the present-day town, is a witness to the turbulent historical events that shaped this region. Its walls remember the times of medieval nobles, Ottoman conquests and Austro-Hungarian reforms.

Built in the 14th century, the Old Town served as a fortress that controlled the road to the Cazin region. Its strategic position provided a view over the entire valley, making it nearly impregnable. Legends say that beneath the fortress lies a system of secret tunnels connecting it to nearby villages.

To this day, the Old Town Bužim remains a symbol of resistance and endurance. Every year, during the Freedom Days festival, the fortress becomes a central gathering place - reminding new generations of the importance of preserving history and tradition.

Visitors can explore the remains of ramparts, towers and foundations of former structures. From the top of the fortress, a spectacular view stretches over the entire town and surrounding hills, making it a favorite destination for history and photography enthusiasts.
