Bužim has one of the strongest diaspora communities in the region. Thousands of people from Bužim now live and work in Germany, Austria, Sweden, the United States, Australia and other countries around the world. Although physically distant, most have never severed their connection to their homeland.

The diaspora of Bužim plays a key role in the development of the town. Through remittances, investments and donations, people from Bužim abroad help build infrastructure, support sports clubs and cultural events.
