The cultural-artistic society “Sevdah” from Bužim has been the backbone of cultural life in this knightly town for two decades. Founded on April 3, 2004, the society gathers enthusiasts of all generations dedicated to preserving traditional Bosnian culture, folklore, costumes and customs.
Folklore as the Core of Identity
KUD “Sevdah” maintains a living connection to tradition through regular performances, rehearsals and workshops. Members nurture traditional dances and songs from all regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special emphasis on the Krajina customs.
Days of Sevdah
One of the most significant events organized by KUD “Sevdah” is the traditional “Days of Sevdah” - an evening program that gathers lovers of sevdalinka songs, folklore and traditional music. This event attracts performers and guests from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The society also regularly organizes Evenings of Sevdah and Folklore on the Alija Izetbegović Square in Bužim, performing alongside guest societies from Cazin, Gračanica, Živinice, Doboj and other cities.
Performances Across the Region
Members of KUD “Sevdah” regularly perform at folklore festivals in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. The society has performed in Croatia, Austria, Germany and other countries, presenting the richness of Bosnian tradition.
Open to New Members
The society is open to anyone who wants to learn folk dances, traditional songs or contribute to preserving cultural heritage. Rehearsals are held regularly, and costumes are available for new members.
